Sonoma State University is one of the 23 California State University campuses and is located in Rohnert Park, CA. SSU is conveniently located 40 miles north of San Francisco in Sonoma County, the home of award-winning wineries, panoramic beaches, and statuesque redwoods.

Founded in 1960, the University currently has an enrollment of approximately 9,200. Sonoma State has a strong liberal arts program, offering degrees in 46 majors and 47 minors at the bachelor’s level, 15 at the master’s level, nine credential programs and eight undergraduate and graduate certificate programs. Sonoma State offers one of the only wine business programs in the country. In 1999, Sonoma was inducted into the prestigious Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC). The campus development reflects our youth and forward-thinking, with programs and facilities designed for the 21st century.

Under the new leadership of Dr. Judy Sakaki, the campus is positioning itself to be very student centered, and is actively seeking to serve those populations that define California. SSU is on track to become a Hispanic serving institution, and aggressively opening access to first generation students.  It is an exciting time for Student Affairs on the Sonoma State campus.

World-class opportunities define both the campus and the area. The world-renowned Green Music Center and state-of-the-art Weill Hall has been captivating audiences since its Grand Opening in fall of 2012, with performances by artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock.
